Jaded reccomends (( please, spellcheck, if you're going to tell me i'm spelling something wrong, tell me how to spell it right! )) "Storm Front" by Jim Butcher. It's the first book in a series. I'm reading the second one as we speak.

So I started reading Grimspace by Ann Aguirre the other week. I still haven't really finished it, but I've also read most of the second book in the series because I thought it came first, and ngl it is really cool.
Confusing if you read it second-to-first but amazing when you read it in the right order. Well. From what I've read so far, w/e.
